David Andrew Reid
Jamaican by birth, Canadian by choice. David Andrew Reid is a musical theatre artist and creator with a strong passion for dance and movement.ed out of Toronto. Working in theatre, film, television, and voice over/animation.
I was born and raised in Jamaica and have been singing for as long as I remember. When I was introduced to musical theatre, dance and movement became my passion. I moved to Canada to pursue that passion and I graduated with an Hon. Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance from Sheridan College. I have been blessed to have worked with and learned from excellent talent in North America.
Select credits include: the Canadian Regional Premiere of The Color Purple; 2 seasons at Shaw Festival and the world premiere of Sousatzka, choreographed by multiple Tony Award-nominated, Graciela Daniele.
In my performance experience I have been very fortunate to work on material that reflects my race and ancestry. As an aspiring director and choreographer, I am continuously inspired by my fellow colleagues of colour to create theatre that is a true representation of us and society. I hope to follow in those footsteps to not only create that type of theatre, but to also create space for others like it was created for me, with EXCELLENCE.
