Phoebe Hu
is a Toronto-based Taiwanese artist. Multi-disciplinary performer, aspiring writer/director and language coach/cultural consultant for stage and screen.
Trained in classical & traditional Chinese music, urban dance, and a Mandarin Jazz Cabaret singer, Phoebe Hu (She/Her) moved to Canada in 2010 after completing her BA at the National Taiwan University. A graduate and recipient of the Triple Threat Award of Randolph College for the Performing Arts, Phoebe has consistently work in theatre, musical theatre, as well as film/tv and voice over the years with many of the wonderful and diverse companies and artists here.
Selected performer highlights include Cabaret (Grand Theatre), Chip in Beauty and the Beast (YPT), Comfort (Red Snow Collective/Native Earth), devised theatre piece Suitcases (Rosanna Saracino/Linda Garneau), originating the role Jenny Lee in We The Family by George F. Walker (Hart House), and Orphan Song (Tarragon Theatre - postpone due to COVID).
While not performing, Phoebe enjoys engaging in intersectional collaborations and workshop, and takes on various creative position opportunities such as Mandarin/Cultural Consultant, Movement Coach and Assistant Director to grow, expand, pay it forward, and filling the gaps as an immigrant-settler artist.
